Protest March of Dimes Animal Tests at Your Town’s “WalkAmerica”

Helping or Hurting PDF

We need you to join us in convincing the March of Dimes to stop funding cruel, worthless experiments on animals. March of Dimes experimenters have sewn shut the eyes of newborn kittens, then killed them after they had endured a year of blindness; administered alcohol, nicotine, and cocaine to pregnant and newborn animals; and performed other agonizing experiments on primates, ferrets, sheep, and other animals.

The good news is that many of the March of Dimes’ largest corporate sponsors—Kmart, Publix Supermarkets, and Sara Lee, among others—have, at our request, made the compassionate choice to earmark their donations for non-animal programs only. We’re making great strides in convincing the March of Dimes to stop torturing animals in experiments, but we need your help!

The March of Dimes relies on donations from individuals who are completely unaware that their contributions may be used to torture animals. The charity’s single largest fundraiser is WalkAmerica, a series of walk-a-thons held in every major U.S. city during April and May.

Your presence at the WalkAmerica event in your area is vital to educating March of Dimes supporters about the charity’s choices of projects to fund. It is critical that caring activists encourage WalkAmerica participants to designate that their contributions be used only for non-animal projects, such as a birth-defect registry, which could save countless babies’ lives.

Please contact Megan Hartman at 757-622-7382, extension 1464, or via e-mail at MeganH@peta.org as soon as possible to arrange a peaceful, educational event at your local WalkAmerica.
